Special counselling on 5 October to fill lone medical seat

PUDUCHERRY: The centralized admission committee (Centac) will hold a special counselling on October 5 to fill the lone vacancy (general category) in the Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Research Institute. The counselling will commence at 9am on the committee premises in the Pondicherry Engineering College campus. The candidates with merit marks ranging between 200 and 179.666 can attend the counselling with all their original certificates and one set of photocopies of all documents and a demand draft for Rs 750 (Rs 300 for scheduled caste and backward tribes). The candidate can download counselling call letters from the website www.centaconline.in. 

The committee decided to hold special counselling after various students' and parents' forums condemned the lethargic attitude of the government in filling up the vacant seat before September 30, the deadline set by the Supreme Court to complete MBBS admission. Meanwhile the forums have urged the Centac to post the list of students admitted to government and private medical colleges in Puducherry in its website to ensure transparency in the admission process. All India Post Graduate Medical Entrance Examination (AIPGMEE)

The AIPGMEE 2016 application procedure begins from September 16, 2015. According to examination authority National Board of Examination (NBE), candidates can fill the AIPGMEE 2016 online application form till October 22, 2015. AIPGMEE is a national level entrance exam conducted annually for admission to 50% All India Quota MD/MS/Diploma seats in various medical colleges of India.

This year a total of 7 states and 6 medical institutions participate in AIPGMEE 2016 for admission to MD/MS/Diploma seats under their control.

As per the AIPGMEE 2016 eligibility criteria, those candidates who will complete their MBBS rotating internship/practical training on or before March 31, 2016 are eligible for filling up the application form.

Candidates have to fill the online application form and fee can be remitted through net banking, debit/credit card. The cost of AIPGMEE 2016 examination fee is Rs. 3750 for General/OBC and Rs. 2750 for SC/ST/PWD candidates.

The computer based AIPGMEE 2016 entrance exam is scheduled to be conducted from December 2 to 8, 2015. The exam will be of 3.30 minutes duration based on the syllabus as prescribed by examination authority. The online question booklet will have 300 questions from pre-clinical, para-clinical and clinical subjects.

The result of AIPGMEE 2016 will declared tentatively in month of January. The result will be declared for only those candidates who will score the qualifying marks in the entrance exam. The qualifying mark of AIPGMEE 2016 is 50% marks for general category and 40% for SC, ST and OBC category.
